After India’s close defeat in Today’s game and conceding the T20 series to NewZealand, Former Indian Cricketer Aakash Chopra takes to Twitter to express his frustrations.

Aakash Chopra tweeting about the Indian selection policy

The 2-1 series defeat to NewZealand comes as a shock to team India who were riding the wave of a 10 series win streak. They lost the decider match held at the Seddon Park in Hamilton, NewZealand by a whisker losing only by 4 runs.

The Indian team faced a run score above 200 twice in a three-match series which begs the question whether selecting so many batsmen in the lineup was a wise decision. One would think the Indian lineup that batted deep would be up to the task to chase down this mammoth score, but as evident, this wasn’t the case.
Aakash Chopra’s tweeted ” If 6-7 batsmen don’t do it, 8 won’t either. This theory got further validation. Quite incredible that India bowled only 5 bowlers in three consecutive T20i. Conceded 200+ in two of those.” after watching team India lose by four runs to the Kiwis.

After Dhawan’s quick dismissal in the first over by Santner, Vijay Shankar held the fort with Rohit Sharma until he too fell to Santner. Dinesh Karthik and Krunal Pandya showed some promise in the crease, but they couldn’t ride team India home.

When a batting stacked lineup fails to chase the target, Aakash Chopra’s tweet comes as no surprise really. Would the game turn out in India’s favour had the selectors selected more Bowling options instead of batting so deep in a T20 match? Only time will tell as India has yet another chance to get things right during the upcoming Australia series which begins from February 24.
