With phase 1 of elections in three days and one day of campaigning left the BJP has decided to release their manifesto for the General elections of 2019. The document was released in the presence of Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley along with BJP President Amit Shah and the Prime Minister.
The theme of the manifesto is “Sankalpit Bharat – Shashakt Bharat”
The “Sankalp patra” or the document of promises is Modi’s first as Prime Minister. Nationalism is our inspiration, governance our mantra, said Modi during launch of BJP manifesto.
Rajnath Singh said that the document was drafted after consulting 6 crore people.
“In five years, the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken 50 major decisions for the betterment of the country. From 2014-19, our government has transformed the country,” Amit Shah said at the launch address.
Security is a major concern for the BJP according to the manifesto.
“We have been a highly performing government which has fulfilled the 2014 manifesto. This manifesto is one of the government which will continue in government. This manifesto has not been prepared with a ‘tukde tukde’ mindset and an Ivy League mindset,” Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said.
“PM Modi has promised to double the income of farmers, and we have largely managed to fulfill it. Rs 25 lakh crore will be spent on development of rural areas,” Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said.
Other than security, infrastructure development, women’s empowerment were of high priority for the BJP.
