Rahul Gandhi, the PM hopeful reached Wayanad earlier today via chopper late today morning along with his sister and UPA’s ace up it’s sleeve, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. They went straight to the district collectorate office in Kalpetta to file his nomination.
They were met with a grand welcome party. Although the state government was reluctant to give them permission for a roadshow citing safety concerns, a huge crowd of not just Congress workers but also adoring citizens joined the sibling duo’s roadshow.
Two reporters were injured during the show when their vehicles met with an accident. After checking up on their well-being, Rahul Gandhi helped them into an ambulance and sent them to the hospital to be cared for.
Smriti Irani told news agency ANI, “He (Rahul Gandhi) enjoyed a position of power for 15 years because of the support from Amethi, but now he is going to file nomination from elsewhere. This is an insult of Amethi and people here will not tolerate this.” Union Minister and BJP leader Smriti Irani, who is contesting against Congress president Rahul Gandhi, will address a public meeting in Amethi today. It is for the first time that Ms Irani will be campaigning in the high-profile constituency, after the schedule of the polls were announced.
She warned the citizens of Wayanad to look into what RaGa had done in Amethi, which is his constituency. Mr. Gandhi had won the Amethi seat in 2014 when he contested against Smriti Irani.
