Former Australia spinner Shane Warne gave a suggestion to the Indian team for the World Cup to be held in England. He said that in this World Cup, the Indian team should make changes in their opening pair. He believes India should send Rishabh Pant to open with Rohit instead of Shikhar Dhawan.
During an interview, Shane Warne said that there is a lot of discussions this time in India whether Rishabh Pant can play in the World Cup or not, but he believes that both Dhoni and Pant could be part of the Indian World Cup team. He thinks that the notion of Rishabh not being a good enough batsman is just absurd. Shane said that he is a wonderful batsman and also very talented and that he should start Indian innings with Rohit Sharma.
Warne said that if Rishabh Pant started with an Indian innings with Rohit Sharma, it could prove to be very good for the team. Although Dhawan is a fantastic opener and he is playing well for India. But with the introduction of Rishabh, India can start chasing its opponent team. He believes that if you come down with a different kind of strategy on the field, then the opposing team also has to think about it.
In the present scenario, Rohit and Dhawan are the best opening pair in the limited format of cricket for India. Both of these batsmen have started the innings for India in 96 ODIs and have scored 4318 runs at an average of 45.45. It also includes 14 centuries. Recently both of them had batted well in Australia and New Zealand. In spite of this, Shane believes that the Indian cricket team can surprise everyone by giving Rishabh opportunity with Rohit instead of opener Dhawan in the World Cup.
