Retired Australian legendary leg spinner Shane Warne has felicitously praised former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Brand ambassador IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals, Warne, said on Tuesday that Team India needs a lot of experience to compete as favourites in the World Cup. Current captain Virat Kohli is incomplete without the vast experience of Dhoni. The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 will be on 30 May and hosted by England and Wales.
Warne said that Dhoni is the best player to have in any team. Given the needs of the team, he can bat in any order. Those who criticize Dhoni do not know what they are talking about. Team India needs him in the World Cup. His experience and leadership skills on the field will relieve a lot of pressure from Kohli.
Warne also praised Virat Kohli’s captaincy, but he believes that Dhoni’s advice at the time of pressure gives success to Virat. He said that Kohli is a superb leader, but it has been seen so many times that during the pressures, Dhoni’s experience has surpassed Virat’s experience. When things are getting better, it is easy to captain, but at the tough times, such experience is needed, which we find in Dhoni.
India and England are World Cup’s favourite teams for the 49-year-old Australian legend. He said that the World Cup is very close and he thinks India and England have emerged as favourites due to their performance in the last 6-12 months. He also believes Australia’s team can win the World Cup, because it’s doing well at the right time.
