Two American warships have been seen sailing near the disputed islands in the South China Sea. On Monday, the United States sent both warships to challenge China’s naval power. Sources claim that Beijing could be annoyed with this move.

Guided-missile destroyer USS Spruance and USS Preble passed through 12 nautical miles of the island. Both warships have been sent under the Freedom of Navigation operation of the U.S. Navy. The trade war between the United States and China is in chaos as both countries are looking for a compromise before the first of March. The cause of chaos is the rise in tariff for the $200 Billion worth Chinese imports from 10 per cent to 25 per cent.

The South China Sea is one of the busies and militarized shipping route in the world. China claims almost all of the South China Sea for itself, ignoring claims from countries like the Philippines and Vietnam. The U.S seems to be challenging this claim once again. The Spratly Islands are a group of disputed islands. Monday’s operation was the second reported action taken by the by the US Navy this year in the South China Sea.

The U.S. officials claim that it had done nothing that could be deemed unsafe. Over the past years, China has build a lot of artificial Islands with heavy Navy and military presence. The U.S has criticized this actions by China.
