Hindu nationalist chief minister of UP Yogi adithyanath called the Army “Modi-ji ki sena”. He was addressing a crowd on the 1st of April at a rally in Ghaziabad when he said, “Congress people used to serve terrorists biryani and Modi-ji’s Sena gives them only golis and golas”. This comment was met with outrage from the opposition and officials of the defence forces.
The Election Commission has asked for a factual report from the District Election Office, Ghaziabad by Tuesday on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s controversial statement.
At another rally headed by Yogi Adityanath in Dadri on the same day, the prime accused in the Akhlaq lynching case who was out on bail, was seen in the front row. Vishal Singh, son of a BJP leader, was accused of killing a Muslim man in Bisada village.
Mr. Adityanath was campaigning for Union Minister and BJP candidate Mahesh Sharma who is contesting from Gautam Budh Nagar in Uttar Pradesh.
He has since defended himself by denying having any control over who attends his rallies.
